Toasting Our Third Supper Club
“Pause & Savor” — That’s our tagline, motto, and overall inspiration behind our mission here at Hazella Bake Shop. We want our customers to feel welcome in our space to take a break from the buzz of daily life and take a moment to enjoy the very apex of what makes us human.
The bake shop has been such a wonderful use of our space to help foster community, but we decided to take it deeper by introducing a monthly dinner called “Supper Club” to our business model.
If you haven’t heard, Supper Club is a 5-course meal prepared by our Chef and Co-Owner, Michael, and our student, Haddie, who aspires to own her own bakery someday. You may know Michael from his warm welcome in his blue and white checked shirt every time you enter Hazella, but you may not know that in his former life he has worked as a chef and server in hotels such as The Ritz Carlton and Carlyle in New York City. Michael brings his years of fine-dining experience to Supper Club as a way for us to spend more time with our guests outside of the busy bake shop hustle.
Last night was our third of such events, and it was such a joy to see a flow starting total place as we have done enough of these now to really feel comfortable and polished and fully able to savor the evening.
Among our guests were Sara Glaser, who has been our biggest supporter from the very beginning when we were only selling pre-order boxes, and Jan Staley, who has also been with us from the beginning attending to all of our printing needs at the UPS shop.
Under the current COVID restrictions, we could only have two parties in attendance, but our vision for Supper Club in the first place has been to keep it small and intimate so we can have a chance to get to know each other better. We especially enjoy it when different parties can visit with each other and have an opportunity to get to know each other as well.
The menu was our most adventurous yet. We love watching Michael come up with colors, textures, and flavors that all compliment each other from one course to the next.
We hope you enjoy this month’s Supper Club photos and look forward to reporting back after next month’s dinner on May 8th.
